Chapter 42

Job 42:16

16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. 17 And so Job died an old man and full of years.

The Bible says AFTER THIS:  This implies that something has taken place prior to, something happened before Job arrived at this Chapter in his life.   What happened before that made his AFTER THIS so relevant?   Job had reached chapter 42 in his story.  Here is the good news:  If you can say after this there has to be something more…there has to be a future, a from now, a henceforth, a hereafter.

What happened in your life that allows you to declare after this?     What is your story?    You see the testimony in chapter 42 is that Job lived a Hundred and forty years. He saw his children and their children to the fourth generation….so those that lived to the fourth generation saw him during his AFTER THIS.  They were not there for Chapter’s 1-41 , they did not know what it took for Job to arrive at chapter 42 of his life.   All they knew was that Job had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. 13 And he also had seven sons and three daughters.  All they knew was that he had such great wealth that he did the unthinkable, he included his daughters an inheritance along with their brothers.    But he could get to chapter 42 he had to live out chapters 1-41, when the Sabeans attacked and made off with five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, they killed all of his servants except for the one that escaped to bring the news of their death.  The AFTER THIS generations were not there when the home of his oldest son was destroyed and Job attended a mass funeral of his 10 children.  They were not there to witness his story when he sat in the ashes with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. They did not witness hs despondent moments and the days when he believe it would have been better had he not been born.  As you live out each of the chapter of your life remember that one chapter builds upon the other. It does not matter how bad the previous chapters may have been. It was in the last Chapter of Jobs life that the scripture reminds us 12 The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part.  No matter what has happened in all the other chapters, no matter how difficult, don’t stop until you get to the chapter that begins with AFTER THIs.
