My daughter recently completely her very first mountain hike. I listened as she express how much more difficult it was than she had anticipated. She marveled at the fact that there were not many smooth areas where others had walked, that there were so many rocky places. The mountain is a popular walking area and she had expected, even hoped that there were walking trails. She complained that her feet were sore, her back hurt and she even wanted to give up. But then just as quickly she expressed he joy of reaching the top . The elation one only feels after completing an exceptionally difficult task. So it is with this journey that we as Christian’s run. Day by day moment by moment we press toward the prize. The prize that sometimes appears just beyond our reach, Hebrews 10:35-36 (NKJV) reminds us 35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:. We cannot lose our confidence or give up now that we have come so far. We are reminded that our endurance will result in God’s promise. Every hill and every valley makes the reward that much sweeter. Yes we suffer loss, yes we feel the pain of the climb, and yes we may feel as if we have not been effective, but these are only rocky places along the way. We cannot afford to quit half way up the mountain. The joy awaits us at the top.
Prayer: Father Help us to remember, to persevere so that when we have done the will of God, we will receive what he has promised
